Objective for spending Catch up funding:
To ensure students in Yr7 not currently achieving age expected levels in English (reading) or Mathematics do so by the end of the academic year or make at least expected progress from their starting point.
Summary of Catch up funding received:
8 pupils did not achieve national expectations in both reading and Maths at the end of Key Stage 2 (2016-17). The school received £3600 in Catch up funding for Year 7 (2017-18).

Actions

Outcomes

In both reading and Maths a range of targeted interventions was offered to the students, personalised to meet their individual needs.

 

Maths:

In class maths support: 1:1 TA support, additional resources, subscriptions to STAR Maths and My Maths.

1:1 interventions

 

 

 

Reading: Daily paired/guided reading, 1:1 TA support, phonics programmes, extra-curricular reading activities, small group literacy, library sessions, visits to local bookshops, planned Drop and Read sessions.

 

 

 

 

 

8 out of the 8 pupils did not meet age expected levels at the end of Year 6.

By the end of year 7, all pupils were making expected progress from their starting points. 1:1 intervention results for individual pupils showed accelerated progress made during intervention periods.

 

7 out of the 8 pupils did not meet age expected levels at the end of Year 6.  All of these pupils have significantly narrowed the gap between their chronological and reading ages in the annual reading test assessments in June 2018 Additional 1:1 interventions continue to be in place to support students in narrowing the gaps further.
