Welcome to the Alternate Learning Provision Unit (ALP)

ALP is a suite of rooms for boys at Brompton Hall School who generally access their education in a separate area from the main body of the school.

The unit was set up in response to a request from North Yorkshire Authority to provide good quality education for KS4 students with SEMH statements within the Scarborough / Ryedale area who are not on roll at any school by increasing capacity in a way that did not compromise the education of the rest of the school.

ALS is a unit of 5 rooms: classroom, computer room, casual room, private study room and kitchen situated at the top of the residential block.

Timing:  The unit is open from 9:15 am until 2:30 each day although student attendance will be set on an individual basis. After an initial period a programme is developed which may include college and/or work experience.

The school day is very flexible to accommodate the individual learning of each pupil.

Curriculum: Each boy will have a varied individualised Programme of Study which may include work to entry or GCSE level, partial integration in the main school for certain lessons, input from the school’s other specialist teachers, work experience placements and vocational college courses.
