Maths

In the Mathematics Department we identify the strengths and weaknesses of each pupil. Our lessons are then designed to address these gaps in knowledge and challenge those areas pupils are more confident in. Work is completed individually and in groups which allow the boys to further develop their skills. Wherever possible links to everyday life are made and questions are set in context. Links to other subjects such as science and ICT are made explicit. Games are used as a way of building confidence and engagement, but also to challenge and embed understanding.  A lot of emphasis is put on the confident recall of common number bonds and multiplication tables.

In Key stage 3 pupils follow the National Curriculum framework.
