Scarborough Pupil Referral Service (PRS)
Our previous headteacher, Mark Mihkelson, was the Executive Headteacher at Scarborough Pupil Referral Service. This opened up a variety of opportunities for both students and staff to work together to improve the learning opportunities of all of our learners. We believe that this is the foundation of a great partnership and look forward to sharing updates about new projects and collaborative programmes in the future.

Scarborough Teaching Alliance
As a small special school it can often be difficult to establish positive collaborative opportunities with colleagues in local schools, for a variety of reasons such as the potential impact of staff time out of school. This year we have addressed the issue by joining the Scarborough Teaching Alliance, as we believe that by working together and sharing good practice can improve the overall learning experience of our learners. Already staff have attended Literacy and Numeracy moderation meetings, as well as a TeachMeet and the other events on offer are already in our school calendar
The vision of the Scarborough Teaching Alliance is to:
- To establish and support a culture of reflective practice, drawing on evidence and research into learning and pedagogy
- To facilitate a sharing of experience and expertise and create opportunities for professional learning at all levels
- To work in purposeful collaboration to improve learning for all our children
- To offer opportunity for schools to come together and share our knowledge about the needs of children in our community
- To promote the development of leadership skills throughout the education community
- To offer bespoke training and support that meets the needs of all our schools, values the staff who work in them, and makes the most of the talent within our schools
- To take professional responsibility for shaping future developments in education at local, regional and national level
- To create opportunities to work cross-phase – to make transitions work for all our children

Post Sixteen Providers
We maintain strong links with local further education providers to give our school leavers the widest possible range of options. Many of our students attend open days and taster days to help them decide their future career path. The organisations listed below participated in our first careers fair earlier in the year, which was a great success. We hope it will be the first of many.
