Key characteristics of the learners: All students have Statements of SEN or Education Health and Care Plans stating their primary need as SEMH. In September 2017, there were 59 pupils on roll: 34% of these pupils have been diagnosed as having, or displaying significant traits of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and 42% have been diagnosed as having, or displaying significant traits of Attention Deficit (Hyperactivity) Disorder. 14% have been diagnosed as having or displaying traits of Oppositional Defiance Disorder.

Pupil Premium: 72% of the whole school population is entitled to pupil premium: 12% of pupils in the looked after/fostered category, 58% of pupils are eligible for free school meals and 2% come from families with a parent in the armed forces. Three learners are dual-category: LAC and FSM.

Some of learners will have an individualised learning pathways which will not always lead to the academic achievement which is measured within mainstream schools. Our small cohort class sizes also can mean that academic statistics can be unrepresentative and unreliable as a measure of the progress our learners make during their time at Brompton Hall School. However, all progress is regularly monitored, and all learners are set aspirational targets, both in terms of academic achievement and personal development (further details of which can be found here)

There are external examinations in the Summer Term for those KS2 pupils who are judged to be working at the national standard. For further information relating to KS2 attainment please click here.

In KS4, learners undertake a wide range of accredited courses from Entry Level through to GCSE qualifications in subjects such as English, Maths, Science, ICT, Physical Education, Art, Food Technology, Resistant Materials, Media Studies, Photography, Travel & Tourism, to name a few. Each learning pathway is designed to meet the needs of the individual learner, as well as challenge them to reach their full potential in all aspects of their learning.
