Summary of Catch up funding received:

7 pupils did not achieve national expectations in both reading and Maths at the end of Key Stage 2 (2015-16). The school received £3600 in Catch up funding for Year 7 (2016-17).

Actions

Outcomes

In both reading and Maths a range of targeted interventions was offered to the students, personalised to meet their individual needs.

Maths:

In class maths support: 1:1 TA support, additional resources, subscriptions to My Maths and Sum Dog.

1:1 interventions

Reading: Daily paired/guided reading, 1:1 TA support, phonics programmes, extra-curricular reading activities, small group literacy, library sessions, visits to local bookshops, planned Drop and Read sessions.

7 out of the 9 pupils did not meet age expected levels at the end of Year 6.

By the end of year 7, 5 of the 7 pupils were making expected progress from their starting points. 1:1 intervention results for individual pupils showed accelerated progress made during intervention periods.

Ongoing teacher assessments and pre and post intervention results indicate that of the 5 students who were not achieving national expectations, all were making expected progress by the end of the academic year 2016-2017 in reading. All of these pupils have significantly narrowed the gap between their chronological and reading ages in the annual reading test assessments in June 2017 Additional 1:1 interventions continue to be in place to support the two remaining students in narrowing the gaps further.
